  1. I have been the proud owner of the Redman Chief 107-ZRx Standing Power Wheelchair for over 1 1/2 years now and am very pleased with the chair and its capabilities. I previously owned a Vertran Standing power chair but it had two big drawbacks: One, it had one Velcro chest strap that always left you leaning forward.

  2. Why did you decide to get a standing/lifting wheelchair and when did you get it? I picked a chair in 2003 that I thought would get around good inside and outside, without sidewalks. I didn’t fully appreciate the standing feature the first year. I had a hard time with my blood pressure and would pass out before I got all the way up. But because I have the opportunity to stand frequently I now stand long periods of time. Why did you choose the Redman stand-up chair? Sam Redman brought the chair to Craig Hospital and let me try it out, I liked the looks and performance. The hospital pressure mapped the chair it proved to be exemplary. What are some of the functions of the chair, besides being able to stand? I can do a combination of seating positions, legs partially up with small amount of recline and partial stand (blended stand), or legs straight out and full recline (a horizontal position). It also allows me to stand and recline to a bending backwards position (yoga). How has it benefited you or not benefited you? Has it improved your quality of life, if so, how? Sometimes people in wheelchairs are ignored. I find when I stand with everyone else I am more included in the conversation. The chair is very dependable, one thing I don’t have to worry about, I’m comfortable rolling around on my own. What are the pros and cons of the chair? I guess the pros are listed above. Also I haven’t had any skin issues probably because I changes positions a lot, I like to stand up, and use a blended stand. You get on a steep enough hillside it will tip over, did that, no damage to chair or me. Just had to wait […]

  1. Thank-you for all you are doing for us and we deeply appreciate Redman and the efforts you are doing to make this chair very specific to Brian. We truly love the chair and the benefits of standing in this chair are phenomenal………especially the “chair”apy……due to Brian having one leg shorter than the other, we have to do leg extensions as per requested by the dr. of physiatry and physical therapist, so in addition to the ROM we are doing and having this chair, hopefully we will get the legs more in sync with one another. We will let you know…….how that goes. We also love the fact that we can go places in his stander since he can also drive from it. He really is the center of attention and the docs are so impressed with him being upright, especially since the 3 flap surgeries on his coccyx and ischium. Otherwise, we would be in bed more often since sitting is no longer in his protocol, except for short intervals. Thus, we are totally grateful to you, Alisa, and the staff at Redman for caring and making this happen, not just for us, but others, to have more quality of life. THANK-YOU!!! We want you to all khow how blessed we are to have you in our lives!! Bountiful blessings on each one of you! Sincerely, Kim & Brian Demers

  2. I have been the proud owner of the Redman Chief 107-ZRx Standing Power Wheelchair for over 1 1/2 years now and am very pleased with the chair and it’s capabilities. I previously owned a Vertran Standing power chair but it had two big drawbacks: One, it had one Velcro chest strap that always left you leaning forward. And Two, It was front wheel drive and very cumbersome to drive in the house, i.e. (always running into walls or furniture when you turned) It was built in such a way that you could not install a pin for an E Z Lock so you could not drive with that chair. I also tried the Levo Combi C3 but the chair lacked the stability when traveling in and out of the house while standing and the knee bolster was a weak point. The Redman Chief 107-ZRx Standing Power Wheelchair is very secure when traveling in the standing position as they have the battery pack travel backwards as a counterbalance as you stand. The chair is mid-wheel drive so it responds quickly for maneuvering around the house or positioning yourself behind the wheel when you are driving from the chair. Another strength that the chair has is the padded metal knee bolster that holds you safe and secure as you stand and travel in the chair. The chest harness is very similar to a backpack and helps you to stand erect without causing fatigue. All in all my wife and I rate this chair as the best that can be gotten. It is American Made and is quality through and through. As for service, the owners and staff will go the extra mile to make sure the fit and performance is top notch. Brian D Bangor, Maine

  3. The benefits of buying a power chair where the only focus has been ONE model and sold direct without middle men medical equipment dealers. 1.) Redman is more than a manufacturer…much more. We are a full service dealer for the entire United States. We do the initial evaluation and fitting, delivery and set up with a complete fit and function guarantee. We do all of the insurance billing for you and provide complete service with a nationwide trained service staff and live technical support 24/7. We are not as good as a dealer, we are much better. We have a long list of satisfied customers and many repeat buyers. Some customers are on their fourth chairs. Once you’re a Redman customer you’ll be with us for life! 2.) Our chair is de-bugged. Building only ONE chair for so long enables us to greatly increase reliability and serviceability. We continuously improve the product in every aspect. We have customers still using the same chair after over 22 years of use. 3.) Updates can be made to older models! When we design something new for our chair we always endeavor to make it fit the older chair so, even if you have an older chair, it can still perform like the new one. 4.) Trade ins – used power chairs are worth just about nothing unless they’re a Redman. Our chairs have the best re-sale value of any power chair and, to prove it, we give you great value if you decide to trade up to a newer model. 5.) Factory direct communication is better, much better. A power chair for a person with specific needs is very personal. At Redman we understand that. One things that has helped our chair evolve to where it is today is this personal involvement you’ll […]

  1. Staying or moving in a stationary position for long periods can bring on a number of health related problems, such as Carpal Tunnel, ulcer problems, and muscle weakness. Having a wheelchair that allows the body frequent movement from the sitting position can help avoid some of these issues. Carpal Tunnel Syndrome We all use our hands all day long, be it for typing, cooking, cleaning, or just turning the television on or off. For wheelchair users, this is multiplied several times further because of the constant need to get in and out of the chair and then propel the wheels, often over long distances. Carpal tunnel syndrome isn’t just a computer issue. You might be surprised to know that it can be a major problem for wheelchair users, brought on by propelling a wheelchair all day long with repetitive motions. Half of wheelchair users get this injury that often has to be dealt with through surgery. This syndrome often begins with pain or tingling in the hands, moving up the arms. Eventually arms and hands are so painful that it becomes impossible to use them as normal. Ulcer Problems Most of you will have heard of the pressure ulcers that often affect seniors when they spend a long time lying in bed without moving. Wheelchair users can also suffer from pressure ulcers when they are in a chair for long periods. Pressure ulcers are caused by the unvarying pressure and friction of bed sheets and various materials in chairs. The ulcers develop in bony areas caused by the weight of the body on pressure points. These areas are difficult to heal with the cycle of further weight on the same pressure points. This makes the person unwilling to move because of the pain. Poor circulation also causes ulcers to appear. […]

  2. All deep cycle gel batteries require a complete recharging (regardless of use) for the first 20 days of use in any power mobility product. Failure to do this could shorten the driving range, and may effect the overall life of the batteries.  Please click the link to view an excerpt from our manual regarding the gel batteries break-in procedure.

  1. This article in New Mobility (digital bonus) is sponsored by Permobil but has some very positive things to say about Redman starting with (Options). I wish they would have used one of the pictures attached instead of the one of that Permobil. Charles Webb (pictured) has been a client of Redman for many years but only in the last couple of years did he decide to stand after over 49 years. Note what he says about his improved bone density and overall health.  Amazing success story! Seating & Positioning, Options & Benefits
